Neuro Imaging Study Day

Neuro Imaging Study Day

This virtual neuro-imaging nuclear medicine study day is aimed at all healthcare professionals reporting, or interested in reporting, radionuclide brain imaging.

Info from the event's website

The Royal Free London Nuclear Medicine Academy and the British Nuclear Medicine Society Educational Series

The course will cover imaging of Parkinson’s disease and Lewy Body Dementia using I-123 Ioflupane SPECT and 18F-FDG brain imaging for dementia and epilepsy. Inexperienced radiologists, nuclear medicine physicians and trainees will find all they need to start reporting brain imaging.

We will cover the basic imaging techniques and our expert readers will show you how they report neurology scans. The highlight of the course is the opportunity to review cases live from the comfort of your own home or office using our cloud based web-PACS. Included in the course is online access to real cases which you review at your leisure up to one year after completing the course. During the course there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and discuss tricky cases with our expert panel.

Hermia Platform

The Hermia Educational Cloud Platform is a cloud-based, flexible facility for the management, display and processing of nuclear medicine and molecular imaging data to support distance-learning educational programmes. The Hermia Educational Cloud Platform provides fully-featured nuclear medicine and molecular imaging display and processing software to multiple users across the Internet, with minimal client requirements, that can be customized to the needs of specific courses. The Hermia Educational Cloud Platform can also be configured to provide libraries of teaching cases together with appropriate viewing and processing software in each case.

Requirements for accessing this event:
*We do not recommend using a small monitor when viewing clinical images.

*A 24” screen and adequate resolution (ideally 1920 x 1080 or higher) is recommended, but not a must

*The only real prerequisite is that a Citrix plugin for the web browser needs to be installed.

The procedure is described in the following attachment: Citrix installation instructions

This event will provide 6 CPD credits in accordance with the CPD Scheme of The Royal College of Radiologists
Event objectives are:
To understand the role of imaging, be familiar with the technical acquisition of studies and gain experience of reporting;
1. I-123 Ioflupane SPECT scans in Parkinsonian movement disorders
2. 18F-FDG brain PET-CT scans in dementia
3. 18F-FDG brain PET-CT scans in temporal lobe epilepsy
