Interview with Dr. Martin Wenger, Nuclear Medicine Physician, Klinikum Bad Hersfeld, Germany
Dr. Martin Wenger’s journey in nuclear medicine has been closely intertwined with Hermes Medical Solutions since his university days. Originating from Austria, Dr. Wenger trained in internal and nuclear medicine at the Medical University of Vienna and the Medical University of Innsbruck.
Currently, Dr. Wenger leads the nuclear medicine department at Klinikum Bad Hersfeld in Germany. He established the outpatient facility there by fusing two abandoned nuclear medicine institutions. In 2009, the nuclear medicine section became an independent, well-equipped department, running Hermes Medical Solutions software.

The medium-sized hospital serves approximately 30,000 inhabitants of Bad Hersfeld and many of its surrounding villages. The nuclear medicine department performs standard procedures such as bone, kidney, thyroid, lung, heart, and brain imaging. Its equipment includes two gamma cameras from different vendors (one double-head, one single-head), a radiopharmacology lab, and a laminar flow box for tracer preparation.
The team, comprising Dr. Wenger and up to five assistant technologists, manages around 8,000 patients annually, both in- and outpatients. Dr. Wenger highlights the crucial role of Hermes Medical Solutions in handling this volume efficiently:
